Day 01:- New Delhi –Trivandrum- Kalakkad
The Kerala Bird Watching Tour begins with arrival at New Delhi, where Indian Horizons representative will receive you and help you plan the further journey towards Trivandrum. Upon arrival at Trivandrum International Airport, You will be received by one of our representatives and transferred further towards Kalakkad which takes about 3-4 hours to reach it. On arrival, check into the pre-booked hotel/resort and enjoy rest of the time at leisure.
Day 02:- Kalakkad National Park
Next day early morning drive towards Ariyakulam and Kundakulam. Stop over at Tirunnelveli for breakfast followed by morning birding at Ariyakulam. After lunch, proceed towards a small village of 200-300 houses at Kundakulam. Here you be surprised to see how birds and people live together in harmony. Enjoy watching water birds such as painted stork, the globally threatened spotbill pelican, night heron, little cormorant, little egret etc. Return back to the hotel/resort for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 03:-Kalakkad- Periyar
Next day after early morning breakfast enjoy watching birds in the open grassland and then proceed towards riverside at Mayuram surrounded by splendid beauty. Later on, proceed towards Periyar which is about three hours’ drive from Kalakkad. On arrival, check into the pre-booked hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 04:- Periyar National Park
Next day after early breakfast proceed towards Periyar National Park which is dominated by thick forest covers and open grasslands and is a home to over 360 species of birds. One can enjoy watching birds like wayanad laughing thrush, oriental darter, wooly-necked stork, rufous-bellied eagle, grey jungle fowl, pompadour green pigeon, malabar parakeet, great hornbill, vernal hanging parrot, grey nightjar, malabar grey etc. After spending the whole day in blissful surroundings enjoy boating at Periyar Lake and then return back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 05:- Periyar National Park- Munnar
Next day after breakfast proceed towards Munnar, another scenic destination of Kerala which is a combination of rolling grasslands and shola forests. On arrival, check into the pre-booked hotel and take some rest. Later on enjoy the bird watching at Rajamalai (Eravikulam National Park). One can expect to see black baza, painted bush quail, nilgiri woodpigeon, red-rumped swallow, yellow-throated bulbul, black & orange flycatcher, grey-breasted laughing thrush, nilgiri pipit, white-bellied shortwing etc. After spending the whole day in scenic atmosphere return back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 06:- Munnar- Anamudi Shola National Park
After morning breakfast drive towards Anamudi Shola National Park. It is a protected area located along the Western Ghats in Idukki District and is composed of Mannavan shola, Idivara shola and Pullardi shola, covering a total area of around 7.5 km². Enjoy watching the great beauty of the surroundings and variety of birds. Return back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 07:- Munnar- Thattekad Bird Sanctuary
After morning breakfast proceed towards Thekkad Bird Sanctuary which is about 64 Km from Munnar. On arrival, check into the pre-booked hotel and take some rest. Later on, enjoy the bird watching tour at Thattekad which is a lowland forest area of about 25 Sq. Km. and is the first bird sanctuary of Kerala. Here one can easily spot broad-billed roller, chestnut bittern, grey-headed fish eagle, orange-breasted green pigeon, spot-bellied eagle owl, brown fish owl, mottled wood owl, sri lankan frogmouth, great-eared nightjar, malabar trogon, malabar grey hornbill. Return back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 08:- Thattekad- Cochin- New Delhi
On the last day of Kerala Bird watching tour check out from the hotel and proceed for Cochin International Airport for the return journey to New Delhi.
